Every patient of Cellin Clinic Hongdae possesses dignity and worth as a human being, and holds the following rights, together with the corresponding responsibilities and duties, in order to lead a healthy life.
Rights of the Patient
1. Right to Receive Medical Care
A patient has the right to receive appropriate health and medical services to protect and promote their own health, and shall not have their rights concerning health infringed upon on the grounds of gender, age, religion, social status, economic circumstances, or the like; a medical professional may not refuse to provide medical care without a justifiable reason.
2. Right to Know and Right to Self-Determination
A patient has the right to receive sufficient explanation from the attending physician or others regarding their disease condition, the purpose and methods of treatment, anticipated outcomes and side effects, treatment costs, and the like, to ask detailed questions about such matters, and to decide for themselves whether to consent thereto.
3. Right to Have Confidentiality Protected
A patient shall not have their physical and health-related confidentiality or the confidentiality of their private life, in connection with medical care, infringed upon; medical professionals and medical institutions may not divulge or disclose a patient's confidential information except where they have obtained the patient's consent or in cases prescribed by law, such as criminal investigations.
4. Right to Apply for Counseling and Mediation
In the event of a dispute arising in connection with medical services, a patient may apply for counseling and mediation to bodies such as the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency (한국의료분쟁조정중재원).
Responsibilities and Duties of the Patient
1. Duty of Trust in and Respect for Medical Professionals
A patient shall accurately inform medical professionals of information related to their own health, and shall trust and respect the treatment plan explained by the medical professional.
2. Duty Not to Receive Medical Care by Improper Means
A patient shall disclose their identity prior to receiving medical care, and shall not receive medical care by false or improper means, such as receiving care under another person's name.
